My Therapy HouseⓇ is a play sanctuary for all who work here and visit. We care about the children we treat, and their parents and caregivers.
Each team member at My Therapy HouseⓇ brings their own special approach to play and working with children and families. They each put their heart and soul into supporting children’s development, accept individual differences and celebrate achievements, no matter how small they are.
We believe it takes a village to support each child and their family. Our team is a multidisciplinary one that works closely with parents to support their child’s development.
Many children describe My Therapy HouseⓇ as ‘FUN’!
So come and have some fun with us and become a part of our community at My Therapy HouseⓇ where you and your child are treated with acceptance, appreciation and grace.
This is what we do
We work as a multidisciplinary team using a co-therapy approach with children and parents.
We use play, fun and creativity to bring out the best in the children and their families to support the children’s holistic development and their relationship with themselves and others.
We have Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, an Early Childhood Educator, a Play Therapist and a Community Worker as part of the team, and all these disciplines work in a collaborative and creative way to bring out the best in all the children we work with.
Our approach is centred around play and playfulness. This means you will not find us doing repetitive drills, structured tabletop activities, or trying to elicit speech sounds using traditional methods.
There are no worksheets in our clinic. Instead, children’s milestones are reached and their skills are developed through play. Children learn cutting by preparing gifts for the toys; they learn fine motor skills for school readiness by writing letters to toys, writing on the whiteboard, and using shaving cream to trace shapes. Speech sounds are developed in creative play scenarios such as visiting the zoo and pretending to be different animals that have different sounds.
This collaborative and playful co-therapy approach, where we support both the child and their parents and caregivers, is the most effective and holistic way for children to learn and develop hard skills and concepts while having fun in a safe environment!
Our therapeutic staff are highly skilled in supporting children to learn and develop while having fun and coaching and educating parents about their child’s development and individual profiles to ensure the ‘just right’ approach for each individual child and parent or caregiver.
