We are thrilled to be once again hosting two final year students from Uni SA.
Leila and Edwina have been getting to know our families during individual and co-therapy sessions. Supervised by Judy and Nikita, they have been carrying out formal assessments and writing these up as reports for selected children, planning sessions, and learning about the advantages of co-therapy and a multi-disciplinary approach. Towards the final half of their placement, Leila and Edwina will be responsible for running occupational therapy and speech pathology sessions themselves.
It’s wonderful to see our children enjoying meeting and playing with new people in the safe and supportive space we provide. This is an important part of social development and is helping many of our clients meet the goals they are working on at My Therapy House.
My Therapy House is strongly committed to mentoring the next generation of therapists. This is an important part of the services we provide because it helps us to keep in touch with the current course content for different disciplines, and to pass on the experience that we have built up over many years. We’re excited by the enthusiasm and diligence shown by all the students we work with!
Student Statement
“Hi, we are Leila and Edwina, UniSA students spending 9 weeks at My Therapy House! We’re in our final year of study and are excited to graduate and begin our careers in Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology!
Leila is an Occupational Therapy student with a passion for mental health and paediatrics. This is her first paediatrics placement, and she’s found My Therapy House’s emphasis on play unique, reflecting their strong commitment to client-centred practice.
Edwina is a Speech Pathology student who enjoys working with paediatrics and adults. She has found the child-led approach to therapy to be interesting and different from her last placements, and enjoys working in a client and family-centred manner.”
