All My Therapy Staff recently attended a fantastic NLP Fundamentals coaching course run by Toni Everard. Toni is an enthusiastic and engaging presenter who is passionate about teaching people to help others.
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It is a set of tools and techniques that focus on the connection between our thoughts, the language we use and our behaviour and responses.
In simple terms:
- Neuro: Refers to our brain, how we process experiences and store them in our minds.
- Linguistic: Refers to language, how we talk to ourselves and others and how our words can shape our thoughts and actions.
- Programming: The patterns of behaviour and thought that we pick up through experience, and how these patterns can be tweaked.
Within My Therapy House, the coaching helps us to see things from fresh angles, understand limiting beliefs and how to break free from them. This will help us to build positive relationships with children and families.
Being conscious of the language we use can empower parents to effectively advocate for themselves and their children. NLP coaching also provides us with tools to help set clear and achievable therapeutic goals within the framework of the child’s developmental goals.
The coaching with Toni was a great introduction to NLP concepts. We all found it very useful, and it has prompted much self-reflection, sharing and discussion about our growth as individuals and as a team so we can provide even better support for children, parents, caregivers and each other!
