Talking to Your Child About Autism

As a team, families often ask us when, or even if, they should tell their child about their autism diagnosis. Parents can be at a loss as to how they can explain what autism is to their children and what it means for their daily lives.
Talking About Autism

As a team, families often ask us when, or even if, they should tell their child about their autism diagnosis. Parents can be at a loss as to how they can explain what autism is to their children and what it means for their daily lives.

This is, of course, different for every family. Professor Tony Attwood and Dr Michelle Garnett have written an article on “How to Explain Autism to a Child or Adolescent”.

Professor Attwood and Dr Garnett are also presenting a webinar on 14th October 2022 for parents and carers. The aim of the webinar is “to increase your understanding of autism and common family dynamics that occur when one or more family members are autistic, including autistic parents”.
This could be a helpful resource if you are interested in learning how you can communicate about autism with your child. Therapists and other health providers may also find this webinar useful.

Why I Wrote Attuned Workplaces

I did not write Attuned Workplaces because I wanted to add another book to the world.
I wrote it because I could no longer ignore what I was seeing.
