Dear Families
We hope you are all well!
These are extraordinary times we are all living and experiencing. There is a lot of angst and uncertainty in our community with the Coronavirus and COVID-19 situation. At My Therapy House® we are taking infection control very seriously to keep everybody safe and well. We thank all families for their understanding and helping us maximise good hygiene practices at our House.
We do not know what is going to happen going forward and whether more people will need to self-isolate. At My Therapy House® we are ready to provide Telehealth sessions i.e. sessions online. This means families will have access to therapists online from the comfort of their own home without needing to go out.
What will you need?
What you will need is a
- computer or
- Chromebook or
- iPad or
- Tablet or
- phone
with a wifi or internet connection.
The larger the screen, the easier it is for you and your child to interact with us. We advise for portable devices, as then you can move them around the room. Sometimes parents will want to talk in private with the therapist. We highly recommend not discussing any issues about your child in front of them!
Telehealth sessions will ensure your child or loved one continues to reach their developmental milestones at home.
How can you use Telehealth sessions?
Each family and client will make use of these sessions in a different way. Some examples when we have worked with other families via telehealth:
- caregivers show us how they play/interact with their child and then we can discuss and give ideas after the play session (this can be live or through a video you have already made)
- we can help carers brainstorm about setting up play environments or coming up with games and playful interactions
- we can discuss any issues carers may be experiencing in supporting their child at home
- we can support the carers to support their child.
We will continue working as per the child’s NDIS Goals and Development Plans.
We can follow up with any written information or suggestions.
We are also thinking about running groups, should more people need to self-isolate – this way we are providing a social means of interacting with people in the community without leaving the house.
We hope the Telehealth sessions are an opportunity to extend our services in a different direction and provide community support where needed.
Please feel free to contact us and/or talk to us if you have any questions or concerns.
