Up Close and Personal with Kristine Orbiso

From my very first interactions with the team, there was something that just felt different. The environment felt warm, personal, and genuinely connected. I was looking for a place where people support one another, openly share ideas, and are passionate about growing together.

What is your role at My Therapy House?

I’m an Occupational Therapist

How long have you been working at My Therapy House?

I will be starting real soon :)

Why did you choose to work at My Therapy House?

From my very first interactions with the team, there was something that just felt different. The environment felt warm, personal, and genuinely connected. I was looking for a place where people support one another, openly share ideas, and are passionate about growing together. Being surrounded by therapists who are so knowledgeable and genuinely invested in what they do is incredibly inspiring, and I knew it was the kind of environment where I’d continue to grow into the therapist I aspire to be.

What is your favourite thing about working at My Therapy House?

Since I’m just starting at My Therapy House, I am looking forward to the people I will spend most of my weekdays with!  Back in the Philippines, I had the privilege of working alongside colleagues who eventually became some of my closest friends. We celebrated wins together, supported each other through challenges, and always had someone to chat with at the end of the day. It gave me a real sense of belonging and made work feel like more than just a workplace. From the moment I met the team at My Therapy House, I got that same warm and genuine feeling, and I’m really looking forward to building those relationships with the team and families, learning from one another, and hopefully finding that same sense of belonging again.

What were your favourite play activities when you were a child?

I was always big on imaginative play. As the youngest of four with quite a wide age gap between my sisters and me, I often found myself creating my own little world and adventures. Looking back, I had such a wandering imagination, whimsical, if I may say so! Whether I was making up stories, pretending to be different characters, or turning everyday objects into something magical, I could happily entertain myself for hours.

What is your favourite thing to do when you are not working?

I love to collect hobbies, so I’m always trying something new! My favourites revolve around getting lost in a good book, exploring new cafes, spending time with family and friends over a card or board game, or simply enjoying a quiet day at home. I’m definitely a homebody at heart.

What is your favourite food?

Love pizza with loaded cheese!!

What is your favourite saying?

“Until we take action, our words have no power”.

Randomly came across this while reading an essay. Thought it was a good reminder that today is as good a day as any to start.

What photo are you sharing?

Sharing this photo of myself when I first came to Adelaide. I made some animal friends!!

Why I Wrote Attuned Workplaces

I did not write Attuned Workplaces because I wanted to add another book to the world.
I wrote it because I could no longer ignore what I was seeing.
