Great news for My Therapy House ! We just received our Registration Certificate from NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission which is valid until January 2020. This means all the quality assurance processes we have in place from the Australian Services Excellence Standards audit last year have been recognised until January 2020 and we do not need to go through another audit until January 2020.

My Therapy House is recognised as a quality service for children and young adults with disabilities and their families by the NDIS.

The NDIS have a new NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission in place since yesterday, July 1 2018. All providers who want to be registered with the NDIS will need to be audited at some level by external auditors.

The Providers who are registered with the NDIS, can provide services to Agency Managed participants (this means those participants who have NDIS manage their money), Plan Managed participants(Plan Managers manage their money) or Self Managed participants (the participants themselves manage their money).

If a participant has their funds Plan or Self Managed they are able to access providers who are not registered with the NDIS. This potentially opens up more choices for participants but also participants need to choose providers carefully as the providers who are not registered with the NDIS do not need to go through the NDIS quality assurance process. Some providers may opt out of registering with the NDIS because the NDIS quality assurance processes may be too onerous or costly for them. It’s good to check if providers have other quality assurance checks, registrations and systems in place. Providers should be registered with their professional organisation e.g. Speech Pathology Australia, Teachers’ Registration Board, Occupational Therapy Australia; or they may have gone through other external audits such as Australian Service Excellence Standards or ISO-9000.

We strongly recommend all families visit the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission website and become acquainted with it https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/. Under the NDIS Participants tab you will find information about

  • Behaviour Support
  • Provider Registration
  • Complaints
  • Rights of Participants
  • Incident Management and Reportable Incidents
  • Safety and Quality
  • NDIS Code of Conduct

If My Therapy House clients have any questions about quality assurance processes, please speak to any of the My Therapy House Team.

In Safety and Quality

Dana 🙂
